Smallholder farmers are crucial to food system stability and can play a leading role in transitioning towards a more climate resilient world. Our Inclusive Agribusiness programme supports smallholder farmers in Africa and Asia.
Enabling environment
The Bible inspires us to look after those who, due to structures and systems in society, face challenges in securing their livelihoods and supporting their communities. We focus on transforming economic systems that oppress the most vulnerable and keep them trapped in cycles of poverty. Together with our partners, we actively involve marginalised groups, irrespective of their gender, religion or background—to build an enabling environment in which every farmer can develop their full potential.
We aim to create a system where farmers thrive, value chains are well-organised and inclusive, shared decision making is the norm, natural resources are managed responsibly and regenerative practices are encouraged.
We work towards:
- Inclusive and well organised value chains: linking smallholder farmers sustainably to (global) markets.
- Thriving farms: ensuring smallholder farmers have the knowledge, expertise, access to finance and resources to contribute as valuable partners in the value chains.
- Towards regenerative resource management: promoting agriculture that regenerates rather than degrades ecosystems.
- Shared decision-making: ensuring all relevant actors are heard in decision-making processes within value chains and rural communities.
Through this approach we contribute to eradication of poverty and hunger (SDG 1, 2), the building of inclusive communities and value chains (SDG 5), responsible consumption and production (SDG 12), and inclusive economic growth and decent work (SDG 8).
